Past Limelights
Sunday 15 January 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston
Our biggest event so far, with 18 marvellous performances, including three duets and a quintet! Piano, voice, violin, cello, tenor horn, clarinet and saxophone were all represented.
Sunday 6 November 2011 - Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands
There was a nip in the November air, but the welcome was warm at the Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands. The bar was open in the lavish surroundings of the upstairs function room, with its newly-restored grand piano. Joanne and her staff were wonderfully helpful and seemed mesmerised by all the music!
Sunday 11 September 2011 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston
We had a wonderful evening's music, with thirteen performances: two violinists, a clarinet and a saxophone, four pianists and five singers, including an operatic duet: thanks, Naomi & James, or should I say, Leonora and Florestan?!! The music performed was wide-ranging: folksong arrangements, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, film music and jazz! Anthony Milledge was a fine accompanist and contributed a delightful performance of Debussy's Minstrels. The Mayor of Ulverston, Councillor Pat Jones, dropped in to catch the end and is now a Limelight supporter!
Sunday 3 July 2011 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston
15 performances delighted a friendly Supper Room of music-lovers on a balmy summer evening. Deborah welcomed everyone and soon got them taking an active part in the evening's proceedings, with an introduction to concert performance: in groups we took turns to applaud each other and acknowledge the applause. We were then treated to performances from pianists, wind players (flute, clarinet, sax, tenor horn, tuba) strings ('cello) and singers, of all ages from 8 to senior, with a wide range of music from baroque to contemporary. All were warmly received. There were several witty performances and also a touching moment as Adam presented his tribute to the late Goff Richards. Accompanist for the evening was Anthony Milledge, who fulfilled his role perfectly, even contributing a lovely rendition of a Rachmaninov piano prelude to the evening's proceedings.
